Patricia Cain explores the nature and process of the construction of Hadid’s new Riverside Museum through drawings in 2-d and 3-d forms. In her role of artist-as-architect for the exhibition, Cain has exposed her working practices and those of her collaborations (including that with the gallery itself) as part of the exhibition. As well as exposing the process of making her own drawings and paintings, this has involved mirroring the Riverside’s on-site collaborations by working with four others, Ann Nisbet, Alec Galloway, Rosalind Lawless and Phil Lavery. The outcome includes a huge architectural installation, glass sculpture, a conversation through printmaking and 3-d digital pieces. The result is that this exhibition focuses not only on the construction of the Museum but also on the creative and collaborative process of making. Taking a further step back, it also reveals how this exhibition has become constructed.
