The installation replicates a vintage clothes shop of dresses constructed from an archive of Vogue vintage patterns made by local residents who engaged in the artists autumn/winter workshops. Drawing upon the voluptuously beautiful within the dynamic of cross-cultural vintage chic, Dressing Room also includes loaned vintage/vintage replicas from local residents into the installation. Whilst Couture was only available to the elite, Dressing Room displays chic on the cheap fostering resourcefulness through longevity and the art of sewing once widely shared outside mass production. Making an entrance – Small World offers a new concept in window shopping, where nothing is for sale. Small World is a space for inciting an exchange of ideas from artist to participants to contemplative audience.
