Join Sticks Gallery on the 24th November for the private view of Dewi Cary’s new work, ENDING, comprising a film and photographic work. Dewi is a dyslexic artist who has experienced painful bouts of depression, which this new work explores. The film transports the audience into the shoes of the depressed person, aiming to reduce the stigma so often attached with mental illness, and highlighting that behind every label is a person.
The PV will begin at 6 pm and ends at 8 pm. The artist and those involved in the production of this work will be present at the private view to answer any questions.
Food and drink will be available as will a selection of Christmas gifts from our micro retail area.
There are events accompanying this exhibition. On Sunday 3rd December we have the opportunity for people to join the artists Dewi Cary and Helena Eflerova in an exploration of depression through working with found objects from the locations of the film; and on Monday 4th December the Art, Inclusion and Disability symposium will take place at St Vincent college in the Jervis Gallery. Tickets for both are priced at £5 and £3 for concessions. Tickets and more information are available via the events’ Eventbrite pages:
