Using painting, drawing, printmaking and collage, Little has created a collection of works which celebrate all things camp and considers its appeal over the years in popular culture.
Growing up in an age of Dynastyand Are You Being Servedand drawn to old black and white movies with the likes of Joan Crawford and Bette Davis, the artist has had a lifelong fascination with camp and its icons.
The wider appeal of camp has come and gone over the years (now very much ‘in’ as the theme of this year’s Met Gala demonstrates) but as society has changed it has evolved from a term almost of derision and something underground to be more openly celebrated. Camp (always somewhat blurred with gay culture) has definitely come out of the closet and permeates throughout art, fashion, music, film and TV. How bona.
