Factory Nights is a series of inspiring working sessions for ANY visual artists, photographers, writers, poets, musicians, filmmakers and any other creatives!Factory Nights is not a discussion event, seminar or workshop.Factory Nights are free sessions that simply provide an opportunity for creative people to come together in an interesting venue and supportive environment to make work or initiate ideas. Artists can come to the sessions with something they have been working on or could start something brand new, inspired by the space.BACKGROUND: The Wallaw Theatre opened in mid-1937. It was part of a small independent Wallaw Circuit owned and operated by Walter Lawson (WALterLAWson) who had been operating cinemas since April 1914.The Moderne style facade belies the attractive auditorium within, the wonderful Art Moderne foyer contains its original fittings including metal handrails and inlaid doors. The auditorium is made up of three cinemas the Mini, Minor and Major Screens, the latter contains all original fittings including decorative plasterwork. This Factory Night includes a tour of the building by cinema projection room employee Peter Douglas and an opportunity to view his slides of the building from the 1980’s.T email: [email protected] to book
