Flicker Alley was the nickname given to Cecil Court during the time it was the central hub of the early British film industry (early 1900’s). In the decade leading up to the First World War almost 40 film-related businesses had premises on the street including many famous names in early cinema: Hepworth, Nordisk, Gaumont and American Vitagraph. Saturday July 23rd will feature the Flicker Alley Day at Cecil Court,which celebrates the cinematic heritage of Cecil Court:1:30pm – Silent Film Screenings featuring live piano accompaniment by John Sweeney 3:30pm – John Matthews, a world expert on King Arthur, will discuss King Arthur’s representation in film. The lecture will include film clips. 5:30pm – Premiere screening of the selected experimental films for Tenderflix 2011 We are also proud to present in the top floor of Tenderpixel an installation by art & design collaborative Garudio Studiage, as well as, live cyber performances by California artist, Morrisa Maltz throughout the day. *All events are free and happening at Tenderpixel, 10 Cecil Court.
