Jarrow Hall plays host to this vibrantly diverse exhibition by 15 members of the Northern Potters Association. Ranging from the sculptural to the functional, delightful ceramic pieces engage the viewer with colourful glazing and interesting form. Carolyn Corfield’s work for this event comprises sculptured vessels, votive figurines and meditative pieces, two of which incorporate poetry in Braille and form part of what is a truly intriguing display.
Housed within the Hall is Europe’s largest collection of 7th – 8th century coloured glass plus exhibits charting the history of The Venerable Bede. No mere museum and exhibition space, also featured within the surrounding eleven acres is an Angl0- Saxon Farm Village. Well worth a visit this venue has a lot to offer, not least a superb cafe full of mouth watering refreshments. As Wallace would say ‘A Grand Day Out!’
Do come along to the Meet the Makers Day 1-5pm Saturday 19th February. Demonstrations and workshops will also take place during the exhibition.
