Compare Frog Morris hosts an evening of eccentric light entertainment in the Montague Arms. It is a curious cabaret of unconventional characters who perform songs and sketches. The show on Thursday 11th September will feature the first performance of a new work by artist by Di Di Lin which tells the strange story of a one eyed girl. Sheer Zed and Will Noble will also be debuting a new sketches and routines written especially for the pub. There is also live music from singer-songwriter Loosely Based on Fiction and the return of the infamous Uncle Jeepsie and his unstoppable acid addled rock n roll show. Artist and poet Frog Morris will conduct proceeding from his candle lit alter of ale at the front of stage. The evening takes places in The Montague Arms, which described by the London Paper as ‘The best pub in the country’ and was voted number one pub by The Rough Pub Guide : A Celebration of the Great British Boozer. Once you get in side it is easy to see why. Montague Arms is a venue stuffed full of stuffed animals and other odd items collected over its long history. The same family have run the pub for over forty years and they can tell tales of east-end gangsters, blue comedians, punks, cockney sing-alongs, prog rock, coach trips and dancing girls who weren’t what they said they were. They also serve a decent pint of beer. You won’t find atmosphere like this in many other places anymore.
