In this final Futures Forum session, Martin will be deconstructing the meaning behind decolonisation, exploring how this is being carried out in the arts sector and sharing examples from his own work and others in the sector. You’re invited to join the discussion, sharing your own ideas and contributing to the dialogue on reframing the arts sector.

About the Host
Martin completed his postgraduate studies at University of Sussex focusing on creative methods in social research. After that he spent five years working in global development, completing projects in Indonesia and Palestine as well as the UK. These projects were community-based initiatives and involved facilitating discussions on a range of topics using creative writing and photography. The communities that Martin has worked with range from refugees and homeless people to women’s groups and young people.
About Futures Forum
Futures Forum looks to create a safe, supportive environment for global majority artists at all stages of their careers. In creating this space we recognise that there is currently a serious imbalance in the representation of global majority artists in Southampton’s cultural offer as well as further afield. Futures Forum was created to address this imbalance and provide a space for artists of all disciplines to share ideas, meet other creative people and hear from sector leaders. This space exists to serve the needs, ambitions and aspirations of its members.
