GARY STEVENS’ PERFORMANCE LAB 2009 COSTS: £40 / £30 concs per full weekend Gary Stevens’ Performance Lab at Toynbee Studios offers artists of all kinds, who have an interest in performance, a chance to explore, find and develop ideas of their own through practical sessions. It is a way of escaping the notebook and of providing a practical, material process where ideas can be tested and modified. A vital part of the experience is the encounter with other members of the group, where everyone is involved in critical feedback. The broad range of practices represented by the artists who are invited to speak about their work is a reflection of the non-partisan and broad context of the Lab that collides diverse practices and invites and encourages different attitudes and approaches to work. Artsadmin has made changes to the Lab for 2009, to make it more accessible and affordable. Each weekend has been made available as a stand-alone workshop, so it is now possible to attend the weekend sessions individually, or as a series, as each one will have a different focus. Each weekend is limited to a maximum of 20 participants. As part of the Lab we hold a series of talks by guest artists, which are also open to the public.
