In the Grain Warehouse the artist is carving two tonnes of soap blocks sponsored by LUSH into oversized grain shapes five hours/day, five days a week. The soap blocks are arranged into walls around the space and get lower as the work goes on. The pile of grains in the grain store grows and so does the pile of soap shavings that surrounds the carving artist. Transformation forms an important connection between the materials, the space and its origins with the industrial canals. Grain transformed into beer and flour, coal into tar. The artist is transforming the Grain Warehouse into a temporary Art Space and coal tar soap bars into grain. This project is funded by the Arts Council.www.silvia-champion.co.uksilvia.champion@gmail.comtwitter @champion_silviaFacebook
