The seminar will also look at the potential for artists to work on large-scale installations or interventions in the public sphere. The seminar starts with a slide show of nationally and internationally sourced public art and commissioning case studies to stimulate discussion.

During the seminar we will look at:

– What sort of skills do you need?
– Identifying and responding to opportunities & briefs
– What makes a strong project proposal & presentation
– Creating your own brief and developing partnerships
– Matching aspirations to budgets
– Contracts

Negotiating public art and commissioning projects is created, developed and delivered by Frances Lord, a consultant and curator who specialises in developing and managing public art and commissioning projects. Clients include local authorities, healthcare trusts, environmental and regeneration agencies, museums and galleries.

A limited number of free 45 minute Skype Advice & guidance sessions with Frances Lord will be available on a first booked first served basis.

Charges: £25 (full price), £20 (discounted price for a-n members) Includes coffee, tea and soft drinks (lunch is not included).

Further details: This event is aimed at visual artists and project managers at all career stages. Priority will be given to businesses or residents from Medway and North Kent.
