Gravity is the result of a study by Edinburgh photographer, Kenny Bean. It is a study of the point when a dancer is in mid-air, not moving up or down, that fraction of a second when the forces of gravity are perfectly balanced by the energy of the dancer and they appear to float. These images are taken with a digital camera but then re-photographed onto film. The film is projected in a darkroom through cloth onto huge sheets of photographic paper. Paint brushes are then used to apply various chemicals creating their own textures and marks.
