Green Walk Open House Arts and Crafts 2020
* Saturday 2 May, 11am-6pm
What do you do when your long-standing May Bank Holiday event is suddenly not a Bank Holiday?
The organisers and hosts of everyone’s favourite south Manchester arts weekend were faced with exactly this challenge recently. Green Walk Open House is always on the Saturday and the Sunday of the Bank Holiday weekend.
But this year, the Bank Holiday has moved to help us all celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE Day on Friday 8 May. What to do?
For this year’s event – we’re cramming all of the arty, crafty goodness into just ONE DAY! All ten participating houses will be open slightly earlier than usual, from 11am until 6pm
This homegrown annual event in a leafy cul-de-sac is organised by a group of residents who open their homes to artists/designers/creatives to use as exhibition space, and showcase / sell their work. Exhibitors include painters, ceramicists, glass-designers, photographers, jewellers and more; there’s a wide range of talented amateurs and professionals, with some stunning work on view. Full listings will be online nearer the time, with a guide to which artists are featured in which of the houses on the Green.
Outside of the houses, on the Green itself and the private road around it, there’ll also be a programme of live music and plenty of food options, with seating available around the Green and between the trees.
Over the years, this event has attracted a growing and enthusiastic following from the local community and from miles around.
