An exhibition of works following an Artist's Residency at Brantwood, the home of John Ruskin. About half the works were undertaken whilst she was coming to terms with deteriorating vision, whilst the remainder were done following a life-transforming operation. Despite the discovery of distant landscapes, Brendon found that her actual work changed very little, seeming to indicate that the marks were determined from within rather than as an immediate response to her optical view. “ I am interested in exploring the rhythms and patterns of landscape, rather than depicting the more obvious vistas. The residency at Brantwood inspired a deeply personal response which will resonate in my work for along time to come”.
