A late night of spectacular art, movies and music. Free. No need to book. Celebrate the start of our first festival weekend with a spectacular night of light as we illuminate the centre of Holmfirth with lanterns, silent movies and art. A selection of short films loosely referencing the 200th anniversary of the Luddite uprising and the 100th anniversary of the British Board of Film Classification (originally the British Board of Film Censors) will be live scored by local bands Love Without Sound and Inclusion Principle with a 1906 documentary film live scored by The Otto Show. Curated by Alice Bradshaw & Vanessa Haley. The centre piece of the evening is a giant Kaleidoscope created by artists Rob and Matt Vale which will illuminate the facade of Holy Trinity Church. Come and play with it – choose a glass disc, insert it, turn the handle, and create a unique and spectacular light show. For a flavour of what to expect, watch this clip of projection work previously created by Rob and Matt Vale: http://youtu.be/RpAmCvmCuB8 Join us for two hours of music, food, fun and atmosphere in the centre of Holmfirth.
