“Love, literature, dreams and memories inspire me.” Phyllis Mahon was born in Omagh and graduated from Belfast College of Art. This is Phyllis’s first exhibition in Strule Arts Centre and she is delighted to be exhibiting in her home town. It is a selection of over forty artworks spanning the past twenty five years of living in London & currently in Lincolnshire. Phyllis’s works usually feature a strong female presence and, where once Venus would have dominated the scene with longing, she now rests calmly, eyes closed. Phyllis’ work spans stonecarving, illustration, painting and print. She has exhibited extensively throughout the UK and Ireland and her work is held in many public collections including The Arts Council of Northern Ireland, Ulster Television and Somerset & Bedfordshire County Councils and in private collections all over the world.
