A colourful exhibition celebrating natural light across Canary Wharf. Aiming to continue to bring stunning works of art to the Canary Wharf estate, this unique light event will launch around Midsummer to celebrate light in its most natural form.
Hymn to the Big Wheel is a new immersive sculptural work by British Artist Liz West, exploring the illusion and physicality of colour and natural light in space. Consisting of a multicoloured octagon nestled within a larger octagonal shape, this work encourages the viewer to reposition and align themselves to differing colourways to see a changing scope of colours mixing before their eyes.
The work prompts the playful movement of visitors to explore the work in context with their surroundings, allowing the viewer to also become the performer within the installation. The chosen jewel-like colours create diverse mixes and blends when viewed from different angles around the installation, as well as producing a sundial effect by casting multicoloured shadows on the asphalt.
