across the channel at berck-plage my relatives pose for a snapshot in 1930. ida and her husband isaac, the couple on the right, were deported on july 23rd 1942. they never came back. on 13 and 14 september, ida and isaac will be reanimated on folkestone beach. these two 70cm tall rod puppets have turned a beach hut into a dolls’ house and are inviting you in for a unique 'one spectator show’. it combines puppetry, art performance and visual art, and develops the event, ida on the beach, which appeared in the whitstable biennale, a local encounter. this performance explores the (photographic) clichés of happy families, happy photographs of happy holidays on beaches, questions and personal and family stories in the context of history
