HA HA is ONE! We’re SOoOoOoO EEEXCITED!!
To celebrate, we are holding an extra special and totally fabulous birthday bonanza, art show, zine fair and screening party!!! The extravaganza will see 17 artists taking control of themes close to our hearts.
Opening on Saturday 13th June with a party of performances from 6 – 10 PM, followed by a free screening of THE PUNK SINGER (about the sensational Kathleen Hanna) on Sunday 14th at 4 PM, the revelry will be relentless.
We will be rolling around in our own agency and taking maximum pleasure in subverting the patriarchy’s perversions of normative gender roles and ideas of hetrosexiness that are – let’s face it – absurd. We will embody the faux theories and impossible aesthetic elements that we are bombarded with, compared to and have been destroyed by. As a result of inappropriate appropriation, these elements were stolen from us, sugar-coated and sold back to us in a desperate attempt to control us. Well, not this time… we will deconstruct the parameters we have been confined by, we will shatter the protection of the media, and revel in our empowerment.
