Ten painters travelled to Languedoc, France in May and painted together in some of the most fabulous scenery and inspirational sites France has to offer – such as in Collioure, where Matisse invented Fauvism. Their work is being exhibited in the show Impressions of Languedoc 2011. “This is a very special year for the French Painting Holiday, which I have been organising since 2004” says Bryan Andrews. “ We had a record number of painters this year, a mix of highly experienced artists and beginners. All painted enthusiastically and have produced some wonderful work showcasing the delights of this amazing area of France – images include Collioure’s famous belltower, the Cathar castle of Queribus, moules frites and ice cream. Come along and enjoy this joyful and inspiring exhibition and be prepared to want to travel to France on next year’s painting holiday. Participants/exhibitors are; Bryan Andrews, Barbara Bates, David Bloomfield, Fiona Gustafson, Jane Hillen, Stewart Hillen, Gillian Mackenna, Ruth Rankin, Bernard Ward and Ruth Ward.
