Wadhurst Culture has commissioned a new composition for music, voices and sounds to commemorate the 25 men of Wadhurst who lost their lives at the Battle of Aubers Ridge on 9th May 1915, as well as the many other Wadhurst men who died during the First World War.
Presented by Artmusic, it will take the form of a concert and a month-long sound installation in the Church of St Peter and St Paul, Wadhurst, TN5 6AA, in May 2015, featuring music by Helen Ottaway and a sound design by Alastair Goolden.
Visitors will, by their movements around the interior of the church, be able to activate a selection of the many fragments of choral and other music, voices and sounds which have been gathered together for the project. Each visit will produce a different collage of sound and create a unique inspiring and reflective experience within this tranquil and resonant building. The sound installation will be open all day for most of May 2015 and entry will be free; we anticipate it will attract a large number of people from a wide area. Full details including how to purchase concert tickets will be posted here shortly.
