Within this sculpture exhibition the work ranges from ‘Dark Dragon’ the creation of which was inspired by the mythical creatures carved by medieval craftsmen on the beautiful misericords, to ideas of pilgrimage and prayer. The ancient crypt at Ripon provides the perfect venue for some of these pieces. There are also three dimensional interpretations taken from some of the simpler patterns to be found within the beautiful illuminated manuscripts of Northern England. The work on exhibition therefore is both figurative and pattern abstract, and is created in a range of media including clay, coloured resins, and microwaved bread.
