The North York Moors National Park’s 60th anniversary kicks off in great style with a stunning and diverse exhibition of work by six of the region’s leading contemporary artists. The artists all live and work in the region, sharing a passionate appreciation of this atmospheric place. This is a great opportunity to see the work of painters, Peter Hicks, Len Tabner and William Tillyer, glass artists Stephen Gillies and Kate Jones and photographer, Joe Cornish all of whom have built sizeable reputations both nationally and internationally with their work widely distributed throughout private and public collections both in this country and abroad. A rich artistic seam runs through the whole of the North York Moors in this region of great contrasts. Artists have long been attracted to this much-loved region, impressed by its wild moorlands, serene dales, big, open skies and majestic coastline. These, combined with the beguiling effects of light over this ancient landscape and restless sea, have spurred artists on to creating extraordinary work.
