Increasingly in a chaotic world of political upheaval, world catastrophes, social networking, mobile communications, media and broadcasting channels…………….Deborah Crofts and Cheryl Papasian have sought refuge in the calmness of the seascape. Linked together with the one aim of escaping modern life and tuning all of this constant interference out.The two painters, in parallel and with similar principles, have chosen to narrow their field of vision. In a meditative and ritualistic exploration of ‘seascape’ as subject matter, they work from a limited palette of coastal elements. In consequence they have succeeded in both simplifying and focusing image and thought. The paintings will be accompanied by the sound of the sea, a recording made by artist John Howard.
