The Studios Gallery is proud to present a solo exhibition of works by figurative painter Andrew Parker. ‘Introspection’ opens with a preview on Thursday 27th February, 6.30pm, all welcome. Working primarily from life, Parker’s practice is rooted in that oldest of traditions ‘the portrait’, approaching each work as a search for the ‘personness’ of his subject and always striving to create the absolute and unique life of the individual before him. The works evidence the search for the elusive presence of the shared experience between us as human beings. Exhibiting twice at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters annual exhibition, Parker was also shortlisted for the BP Portrait exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, London, with ‘The Painters Mother’ in 2013. However, perhaps most exciting are his ongoing experiments into the search for the essence of what it is to be human in the body of the paint itself.
