James Jackman’s work is mostly inspired by the local North Oxfordshire landscape – intimate valleys under strong limestone ridges and big skies. His images explore the border between realism and abstraction through mark-making, layering and collage. Ultimately the viewer’s interpretation completes the creative process. James studied Art and Design at High Wycombe College of Technology and Art and at Hornsey College of Art London during the 1970s. He is a member of the Drawing Research Network and Oxford Art Society. James currently teaches Art and Design at Buckinghamshire New University in High Wycombe.
