Ffotogallery presents Humming Paradise – new works by acclaimed artist and filmmaker Joe Magee. Images of strangers, deep in thought, caught from the windows of trains passing momentarily through a station. The passengers’ faces, bathed in sunlight and often in a dreamlike state as they travel by, are first captured by the artist, then re-contexualised and re-organised. New relationships are suggested by random juxtaposition. A kind of mental landscape is generated – becoming a medium for the artist to explore aspects of human communication, interaction and thought processes.Joe Magee’s new work combines symbolic imagery with specific processes. “I am interested in natural corruption processes and the cryptic aesthetics of digital processes”. Other images are subjected to this treatment. Winter treescapes infested with human messages are encouraged to break down in a natural process of corruption and renewal by being sold off in small sections during the show.
