The Site Festival 2014 will be opening with an exhibition of new work by John Wood and Paul Harrison This show will include 7 new video works linked by a sense of foreboding and violence, undercut by a lack of spectacle and drama. A driverless car rolls slowly downhill towards a lake; A series of car bombs explode in an out of town car park; An unlucky man is assassinated 13 times; an even more unlucky man falls from a ladder 100 times. Much of the work takes, as a starting point, a generic cinematic moment. This moment is then extended through repetition or super slow motion to become the entirety of the work. The show will also include over 50 small drawings and 5 large-scale drawings which will be exhibited at SVA 4 John Street, Stroud GL5 2HA An exhibition catalogue will be available with texts from Simon Munnery, writer and experimental standup comedian The Site Festival is a contemporary arts festival, now in its 18th year, which brings a full and dynamic programme of visual arts, performance, music, screenings, open studios, artist talks and workshops to the Stroud Valleys for the whole month of May.
