Summary
‘’Through the body of works in ‘Journey of healing’ I discovered the therapeutic act within my art practice; ‘Microstories’ are the act of presiding over the mundane and occasionally shocking accounts of ostracized communities. ‘’- Jada Quaye
Jada’s intimate scale paintings are symbols of hopefulness, whilst documenting breakdowns and relapses within the journey of healing. ‘Microstories’ are fully collaborative, from the source material, media, medium to the curation. The works on paper are supported by the artist’s sound pieces and films. The collected sounds and images capture and alleviate Jada’s innermost discrepancies and they are put together at the end of each series. The collaboration with poet Natalie Malambo Nkrumah is part of the artist’s personal journey of healing.
