New works by Kit Poulson including painting, audio and assemblage works that stem from the artist’s fascination with the aftermath of the vision. What is left when the revelation recedes and the consciousness remains firmly rooted in the mundane. How things are accommodated into the world and our minds.
A series of oil and egg tempera on gesso panels and larger canvases are built up over time, through repeated painting episodes that record a series of returns and overlapping resolutions. Historical references, including allusions to classical landscape painting and still life arrangements, crash into the abstract, physical presence of manipulated paint. A complex history of ideas is combined with an ever- present, cheap and immediate sense of re-invention, a site of radical possibility.
