Join us for a full day of conversation and presentations to mark the end of Litmus Parts 1-5 and explore the programme’s possible futures. The event will include 3 presentations from Litmus artists AJ Stockwell, Neasa Terry and Paul Eastwood.
Over the past 12 months, Litmus has commissioned 5 early career artists based in Wales and the Welsh Borders to develop and present new work in our project space at Oriel Davies. The artists, selected through open call, were: Katie Surridge, AJ Stockwell, Neasa Terry, Paul Eastwood and Freya Dooley, whose exhibition Speakable Things (10 February – 11 April 2018), is the last in our current programme of commissions.
Working across performance, sculpture and old and new technologies AJ Stockwell, Neasa Terry and Paul Eastwood will share newly developed works and on-going research, discussing their wider practice in conversation with Litmus Curator Louise Hobson. The day will then move into an open discussion, where we’d like to invite you to join us in collaboratively exploring the possible futures of the Litmus Programme.
- What can a programme like Litmus offer to early career artists? And to local communities?
- What or where are the alternative models?
- What do early career artists want and need in Wales?
- How do we connect up artist networks?
- How can we work together?
We really want to hear from those who have engaged with Litmus – artists, visitors, peers – and more widely, anyone who is interested in discussing ideas for structures that can support early career artists in Wales. This event aims to reflect on the Litmus programme and the projects it builds on – Test Bed and In Focus – and explore possible ideas around what comes next. Please bring your thoughts and ideas to share and discuss.
