The Studios Gallery is proud to present a solo exhibition of new works by artist Simon Jones. ‘Longing’ opens with a preview on Thursday 17th April, 6.30 -8.30pm all welcome. In this collection of images, the theme of “longing” is presented through a number of scenarios involving images of characters and other subjects taken from film, books and TV. Along with these, an old projector goes through its motions as it seemingly attempts to suck back years of projections in a desire to get back its now unattainable source. Jones creates photographic artwork that deals with ideas of memory. Borrowing from the techniques and practice of trompe l’oeil, and combining it with the nature of the photograph, Jones uses miniature dioramas to produce images that momentarily suspend a belief in what is being presented.
