Contemporary ceramic artists present site-specific installations in the home of Sir John Soane. Following showings at the Sir John Soane’s Museum and Port Eliot, ‘Marking the Line’ comes to Pitzhanger Manor as the final venue in its tour of Soane-designed buildings. Abstract architectural ceramics and sculpture will be installed throughout the historic house responding to and complimenting Soane’s characteristic domed ceilings, convex mirrors and playful use of light Mixing the historical and the contemporary, Christie Brown creates sculptural reinterpretations of Soane family portraits and Nicholas Rena introduces bold abstract forms and powerful contemporary colours. Carina Ciscato creates delicate vessels in need of discovery whilst conversely Clare Twomey will fill the empty spaces with one thousand white bone china bowls inscribed with quotations on the subject of legacy. EVENTS: Saturday 10 August at 2pm – Exhibition Tour (free) Please check our website for details of additional events throughout the exhibition.
