Michael Dan Archer’s sculptures deal with materials ranging from mass and density of stone to the transcendence and intensity of light. The RBS sculpture forecourt will feature two works by Archer, Untitled, a stone sculpture that examines symbolism and portals that deal with transformation, crossing of borders and entry into other worlds and realities. The second sculpture, Beacon is a neon piece which deals with intensity of the visual experience and spiritual role of light in our consciousness. A selection of smaller sculptures by Archer will be featured in the Salon gallery from 22 April to 7 May and these will reflect similar concepts. Wall mounted neon sculptures will be juxtaposed against works in cast iron, marble and combined work in marble and glass.
