May Uprising is the second Lodestone Artisan Local Exchange. Lodestone is for people to share, exchange, buy and sell objects, ideas, services and resources – anything that participants believe to have a value and can be used in a transaction with other people. This might be chic bric-a-brac, artisan food, cool cosmetics, deft drawings, poignant poetry, home-sewn vintage clothes, home-sown plants, studio spaces to let, web pages to share, musical groups to form, collaborations to develop… it's basically a project on the value of people's creativity & imagination in an era of transition. Something between a live art installation, a bring-and-buy sale, an art & craft fair, a festival, a FreeCycle event and a local producers' market. It features the Garrigill Wunderkammer; a 'cabinet of curiosities', and all participants will be asked to place at least one object on/in/hanging from it, to start the process of people contemplating value, and encouraging them to make exchanges.
