A Brighton Open House Exhibition on the Fiveways Artists Trail curated by textile artist Diane Rogers.
Diane Rogers
Inspiration for my work comes from nature and the natural environment.
Photography is the first stage in the development of my silk textile art. The captured images are sometimes manipulated using Photoshop, to create interesting compositions, then the images are either printed directly onto silk, or hand painted with silk paints and dyes. The use of free machine, hand embroidery and quilting provides the opportunity to create texture and raised areas in relief and to express an appreciation for the beauty of patterns in nature.
Frances Knight – oil paintings of seascapes and landscapes.
Frances a regular exhibitor with Media Conflux is well known for her plein air paintings which explore the effects of light, colour and structure in the landscape.
Rosalie Dodds – established Fiveways artist member is exhibiting her latest stoneware. Her inspiration comes from the landscape and natural objects. Rosalie is a professional member of the Craft Potters Association.
Terry Routledge – drawings and illustrations are all done on location with pen direct onto paper to provide a personal snapshot of a building, landscape or detail.Colour and tone is then applied by digital programme. Terry is an interior architect in Brighton and has worked globally on many types of design projects.
Dani Crompton – contemporary beaded jewellery and carved recycled newspaper bowls
Dani’s current collection takes its inspiration from the art of creating three dimensional geometric forms.
Russell Hamilton-Hall – graphite drawings. Russell works could be viewed as a storyboard for an interpretation of the relationship between nature and humanity.
Sue Milner – handmade vintage fabric cushions. Sue loves re-cycling textile pieces of the past, giving them a new lease of life and adding her own signature to them.
Gill Rogers – colourful handmade brooches and other decorative items.
Janine Kilroe – hand painted photography inspired by the natural world.
