On Thursday 14th May 2009, the Dover Pride Regeneration Partnership unveiled the first instalment of the Dover Visuals Project: “minD OVER matter” by Edda Venusia Jones. Dover-based artist Edda Venusia Jones was commissioned to create a large-scale text and image based work to be displayed on the hoardings surrounding the former bus depot construction site on Russell Street in Dover Town Centre. The work will be on display for the duration of the construction work carried out behind it (min. 1 year).Edda Venusia Jones’ artwork consists of a series of slogans relating to, including and depicting the word ‘DOVER’. The words are written and presented in a range of unusual and imaginative formats and have been created with the help of Dover residents, including young people from the Step Up School of Dance and Drama, skateboarders and bike riders at the local Skate Park, regulars at the Riverside Age Concern Centre, local artists and employees of the Dover Harbour Board.
