MoonMade is a series of Pop Up shops created to provide a commercial outlet for local artists, designers and makers while also raising funds and awareness for Youth Link Dundee.The shop will be ‘popping up’ for limited periods of time and occupying otherwise empty shop spaces in Dundee city centre. Youth Link Dundee are a local not for profit organisation who work with and support children and young people who are experiencing difficulties and/or are at risk from becoming socially isolated. They directly improve the lives of these people through two projects, One to One befriending and Kids Unlimited Group-work. They offer over a hundred children aged 5-18 support and friendship, as well as giving them life experiences that many of us take for granted but they otherwise would not receive.MoonMade’s objective is to raise both funds and the profile of this very worthwhile cause by promoting and selling the work of local artists in vacant shops.The first shops layout is essentially an installation of an ‘ideal’ family home, which provides an obvious connection with the work of YLD. Furthermore it’s our intention to use this setting to highlight the availability of high-quality contemporary arts, craft & design works, being made right here in Dundee. We are opening on the 21st with a few creative workshops 10am-3pm.
