These large-format photographs are constructed scenes influenced by iconic paintings and modern British life. Each one is an ambiguous scenario photographed at various stages of unfolding. They are a story in pictures, a story with an open ending. Each one has its own roots, its own beat, is rich in symbolism and could be described as a crime scene with the evidence lying around. Luke Mitchell’s month-long exhibition at the Tobacco Factory in Southville, Bristol will be his third outing in the South West in the past 12 months, after the ‘To Be Confirmed’ exhibition which kicked off the Spring season at The Bristol Gallery on Bristol’s prestigious Harbourside and a solo show at The Bath Spa Gallery in Weston-super-Mare.
