I am a Norfolk based printmaker working mostly in lino printing & etching.
I draw inspiration and solace from nature around me, particularly so through the lockdowns.
In lockdown the open views from my home studio inspired a series of skies in all their glory, both calm or wild.
However Lockdown gave me time to work on a project I had been thinking about for a long time, to look at some of the artists who have inspired me. Throughout my art college training there have been different artists that have influenced and invigorated me, this is my homage to them. A series of long thin portraits which I call "Rises". One of which is currently in the RA Summer Exhibition 2021 "His elf Female Artists".
My images start with a sketch before creating colour linocuts. I am often seen cycling around our local area and stopping to create a sketch that I think would make a good image.
My studio is an extension we build at the back of our house - been in this studio three years. We had the door made extra wide to allow the Britannia press access.
Exhibitions include The Summer Exhibition at Royal Academy, London, Mall Galleries & Bankside, London, ArtFair East and Norwich Print Fair. Work selected in V&A Archives.
I first became fascinated with Printmaking on my Foundation Course in Cambridge Furthering my skills at BA(Hons) Fine Art in Sheffield City Polytechnic.
Followed by a Postgraduate at Camberwell School of Art and Crafts, London.
