Sonia Boué and Jennifer Gilbert will be in conversation about Sonia’s Neurophototherapy Project on World Autistic Pride Day, Friday 18 June 2021 from 2-3pm.
Neurophototherapy is Sonia Boué’s new Arts Council England funded R&D project, exploring the use of photography and collage to recover from a lifetime of identification with the wrong neurological-type.
Sonia will talk about her work for the project, including a new online exhibition of photo-collages and text called Origin Story and her forthcoming guide to Neurophototherapy practice. Born of her extensive research into neuro-inclusion and neuro-support strategies, Neurophotherapy has already gained interest at the International Autism Research Festival 2021, and with project partners in Singapore. A further body of commissioned writings will also be released later in the year.
Jennifer Gilbert created the Jennifer Lauren Gallery in 2017, to champion and exhibit international self-taught, disabled and overlooked artists who create works outside the contemporary arts field and art history. As a project partner she brings a uniquely informed neuro-normative perspective to the work.
In-depth but informal, this conversation will seek to cover key aspects and findings from the project. The conversation will have been pre-recorded, but there will be time for live questions at the end.
The event will be live on DAO’s YouTube and Facebook Live.
