As part of its 2011 project ‘Stalls & Traders’, Open Empty Spaces has commissioned artists Jeff Pigott and Julia Warin to create a site-specific response to an empty stall in Newport Indoor Market. The installation will be open Monday – Saturday, 10.00 – 16.00. The artists will be presenting an installation entitled ‘Kiosk’; a bright blue booth crammed full with readymades and new products (or parodies of products) that have been created by the artists. Many of these products are humourous and light-heartedly play with ideas around consumerism and how we can be seduced through the power of advertising.
