f-art gallery presents the first solo exhibition of new works by Dicky Graham in the UK. ouR Mutt’s is a series of sculptural interventions that will be exhibited from the 29 May – 22 June 2008. Using a combination of found utensils and apparatus to create these works, Graham fortifies a family of oak framed dogs that peer through eyes of light bulbs, birds with scissor beaks and oversized caterpillars assembled from old piano’s. ouR Mutt’s nod at Marcel Duchamp’s ready-mades and also reveal the idiosyncrasies of objects in our everyday lives through their imperceptible and overlooked details. As 1917 magazine The Blind Man established by noted: ‘Whether Mr Mutt with his own hands made the fountain or not has no importance… He took an ordinary article of life… created a new thought for that object.’ ouR Mutt’s are, at once, a celebration of change and purport to a sense of playful childhood nostalgia. Dicky Graham lives and works in London, he recently won the Prince’s Trust state-of-the-art competition which was judged by Alan Grieve, Chairman of Jerwood Foundation; Pilar Ordovas, Christie’s Head of Contemporary Painting; photographer Brian Stewart and Hamish Dewer, Art Restorer.
