Displayed on walls, hanging from trees and partially hidden by foliage, an abundance of ceramic treasures await visitors exploring the grounds of medieval Crook Hall, Durham City, over a 4 week period. Thirteen members of NENPA, the North East regional group of the Northern Potters Association, are exhibiting over a hundred pieces throughout the garden in this their second outdoor event, hence the title ‘Out of the Earth II’. Amongst the vegetation deities by Carolyn Corfield evoke our ancient link with nature, reinforced by her lichen embellished torso emerging from the ground, aptly named Helena who was the second wife of Rubens! Ranging from thrownware to handbuilt pieces these ceramic treasurers will both delight and intrigue all who venture to visit.
