A Solo Exhibition of work by Simon Brewster. Curated by Joanna Bryant. 11th January – 2nd February 2013 …a grimy scuff-mark becomes a bank of twilight clouds – and back again. Simon’s recent art practice seeks to explore the boundaries and crossovers between contrasting states such as urban squalor and poetic dilapidation, beauty and ugliness, accident and contrivance. The exhibition Outside Comfort features a selection of Simon’s 2D and 3D works inspired by landscape. Scattered amongst these are other works which seek to gently subvert some of the conventions of art shows and venues; most works strive to stimulate questions about how we perceive and value objects presented as art works. Simon has an MA in Fine Art from Central St Martins College of Art and Design, has had several solo shows in London, and has taken part in exhibitions all over the country. He is a College Lecturer and teacher, and the owner of an allotment in Ealing, which features in the making of much of his work.
