Palace Intrusions is a year long public arts project curated by Helen Ottaway and Melanie Thompson and produced by Artmusic. The project comprises a series of artists residencies or Benchmarks (named after the benches around the Palace Moat in Wells). Benchmark 9 artists, performance artist Hernani COR and food artist Ingrid AR will create a participatory installation in which they invite the public to try to eat the English Flag. The artists who are Portunguese and French have been working together since 2003 producing a series of participatory works involving food, performance and video. Palace Intrusions is funded by Arts Council England, Somerset County Council and Mendip District Council and supported by the Bishop's Palace, Wells, Wells Museum, Wells City Council the Swan Hotel, Wells and Artsadmin.
