Works of art are an interpretation or reinterpretation of the world filtered through the imagination and creativity of the artists who present the work. Neither the work nor the artist exists in a vacuum. The aesthetic choices taken by artists reflect how they negotiate and build meaning with unique relationships to their histories, universal relationships and a new perspective on how our pasts are preserved and presented today.
