Peter Jackman combines abstraction with figuration and reference to landscape. His colours depart from their original source, encouraging a range of emotions from quiet melancholia to distractive beauty of the forms. The work represents Jackaman’s impressions and reactions to places and objects. The drawings are generally developed from sketches, photographs or remembered scenes; which through stages of over drawing acquire more abstract qualities. Every image portrays something of a personal reaction to a particular place.
