Local people have been working with digital artist Thomas Hall to create an exhibition of playful interactive artworks on the theme of an alternative Alice in Wonderland. Participants have learned new skills in digital programming and created digital artworks of their choice using redundant technology (including old toys) ‘mashed’ with new components such as Raspberry Pi and other electronic equipment.
“We at Wash Arts are extremely excited to see what the group have produced over the last 10 weeks. What has been good about this project is that it has involved of a variety of different people from Ilkeston who have all brought different computer skills and knowledge to the workshop. This interactive exhibition is the legacy of 7 individuals working with technology.
Tom has introduced them to a world of computer jargon and has helped them to unravel and demystified an area that some people find a little scary. He has taken away the complexity and has made it easy to join in and most of all have some fun!”
Thomas Hall says “As part of this exhibition we have a piece of work which plays homage to Ilkeston Gnome Island on the Nottingham Road, Ilkeston! – come and see our Garden Gnome!”.
They have had lots of fun putting the exhibition together and would now like to invite the whole community to share it at their exhibition at the store running from Thursday 23rd to 25th April.
